Five questions to Marco Chiatti


For more than 40 years the DURAG GROUP has been active on the Italian market. DURAG ITALIA S.r.l. was officially founded on July 16th. So our colleagues are now celebrating the 10th anniversary. We congratulate them warmly.

DURAG ITALIA is located in the beautiful city of Novara, 50 kilometers east of Milan. Managing Director Marco Chiatti and his team are the contact persons for sales and service of the DURAG GROUP in Italy and Malta. With their services they cover the entire product range. Marco Chiatti has been committed to DURAG ITALIA for three and a half years and has been Managing Director since the beginning of 2020 – we interviewed him.

DURAG: Sig. Chiatti, all the best for the company anniversary. Can you briefly describe what DURAG ITALIA is all about?

Chiatti: For many years DURAG GROUP has been one of the leading companies in Italy when we talk about environmental and combustion technologies. Since the opening of our branch office, we have been able to provide much more personalized advice to our Italian customers, partners and end users. This is what we want to expand on in the near future: It is important to offer our customers concrete support in sales and service around the products so that they can use all solutions from the DURAG GROUP portfolio in an optimal way.

DURAG: Why is Novara an ideal location for DURAG ITALIA?

Chiatti: Novara is a very strategic location with its proximity to Milan – it is close to one of the most important airports in Italy (Milan Malpensa) and is really well connected to the motorway network. We are therefore at a central point from which we can easily reach our customers. Most customers are located within a radius of about 100 kilometers anyway.

DURAG: Which products are particularly in demand on the Italian market?

Chiatti: For example, we have a great demand for emission solutions to measure dust and flow. Moreover, Italy is the country of the manufacturers of burners and heaters and is therefore an interesting market for our combustion products. I am also proud that we are the leading company in Italy for continuous mercury measurement.

DURAG: Unfortunately we also have to ask this question: How has the corona crisis affected the Italian market?

Chiatti: Thank you very much for this question. Because this is the opportunity to thank our colleagues in the DURAG GROUP and our DURAG ITALIA team for their support and the great efforts in the last weeks. Ultimately, this has enabled us to adapt to the new conditions.

DURAG: Finally, how do you celebrate this anniversary with your team?

Chiatti: We had planned a nice event to celebrate our 10th anniversary, but the coronavirus turned our plans upside down. We are celebrating individually, but still as a team around our birthday cake. Maybe there will be a surprise in the near future. Keep in touch!
