D-EMS 2020: Certification in accordance with DIN EN 17255

Hamburg, November 10, 2025 – The well-known emission and process data management system D-EMS 2020 has gained a high level of recognition in the field of quality-assured emission and process data evaluation through countless national and international applications.
Due to the high standards of certifiability and quality assurance of D-EMS 2020 and the decades of pioneering work by DURAG data systems GmbH in the field of environmental protection, we are pleased to announce the worldwide publication of the current D-EMS 2020 version by the German Environment Agency (UBA) on October 30, 2025. This high seal of quality once again clearly distinguishes D-EMS 2020 and provides users, operators, and authorities alike with the best possible support for implementing the demanding European and country-specific regulations.
The full implementation of European and national requirements, tested for suitability by TÜV Rheinland Energy & Environment GmbH in Cologne with certification and announcement by the German Environment Agency in the Federal Gazette (BAnz AT 31.10.2025 B5), forms the basis for the compliant use of the scalable D-EMS 2020.
The announced certification of the D-EMS 2020 complies with DIN EN 17255 1-3. The EN 17255 standard is the world's first standard on uniform requirements and quality assurance for suitability testing and certification of a data acquisition and handling system.
The D-EMS 2020 fully complies with the current requirements of the "Federal Uniform Practice for Emission Monitoring" (BEP 2023) and digital data transmission in accordance with VDI 4201. All four parts of VDI 4201 are available in the D-EMS 2020, which describes in detail:
- Sheet 1 (General),
- Sheet 2 (Profibus),
- Sheet 3 (Modbus), and
- Sheet 4 OPC-UA
Particularly noteworthy is the certified evaluation in accordance with GHG for systems with continuous monitoring (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act) in D-EMS 2020. This function is implemented natively in D-EMS 2020 and is available to users thanks to the quality assurance of the certification and announcement by the German Environment Agency in accordance with BEP 2023 and the extended requirements of VDI 4204.
