DURAG DATA SYSTEMS achieves EN 17255 certification for D-EMS 2020
Hamburg, August 4, 2026 – DURAG DATA SYSTEMS GmbH proudly announces that its emissions and process data management system D-EMS 2020 has been certified according to EN 17255 Parts 1-3. EN 17255 is the world's first international standard for certified data acquisition and handling systems (DAHS). The Certification of the D-EMS 2020 in accordance with EN 17255 was carried out by TÜV Rhineland Energy & Environment GmbH, one of the world's most recognized independent testing and certification institutes, accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065.
Certification provides objective proof from a recognized independent body that the system meets the standard's requirements regarding the acquisition, processing, validation, and reporting of sensitive emissions data. It gives plant operators independently verified assurance that emissions data are acquired, processed, and reported according to applicable regional guidelines. For the D-EMS 2020, this certification once again underscores the company's high standards for quality and sustainability. At the same time, this certification confirms the pioneering spirit of DURAG DATA SYSTEMS GmbH.
This achievement marks another significant milestone for DURAG DATA SYSTEMS and reinforces the company's position as a technology leader in the fields of emissions data management, Predictive Emission Monitoring Systems (PEMS, DATACEMS®), ambient air monitoring systems (D-PAM 2025) and solutions for compliance with international environmental guidelines. It demonstrates the commitment of the DURAG to advancing quality-assured emissions data acquisition, processing, and reporting in line with the latest industry standards.
EN 17255 is the first international standard to establish harmonized requirements for the acquisition, calculation, and reporting, as well as the certification and quality assurance of emission data within Data Acquisition and Handling Systems (DAHS). It creates a unified framework to ensure the quality, traceability, and reliability of emissions released by industrial facilities. Structured in four parts, EN 17255 provides comprehensive guidelines for the quality assurance and quality control of data managed within DAHS. It ensures that emission data from certified Automated Measuring Systems (AMS) and Predictive Emission Monitoring Systems (PEMS) are accurately acquired, calculated, archived, and reported, thereby fostering regulatory compliance and environmental transparency.
Considering the global evolution of environmental guidelines, plant operators are facing increasingly stringent requirements for transparent, precise, and audit-proof emissions reporting. At the same time, great importance is placed on data availability and seamless IT integration. While emissions measurement remains essential, the way data is calculated, analyzed, stored, and reported has become equally critical. The EN 17255 standard addresses this key challenge by establishing clear requirements regarding the performance of DAHS systems, the quality of emissions data, and the integrity of reporting to both regulatory authorities and internal operational departments.
For plant operators, certification EN 17255 provides independent verification that emission data are acquired, calculated, reported and validated in accordance with harmonized quality requirements. This gives operators of combustion plants subject to permitting requirements a high level of confidence regarding transparent, accurate reporting and subsequent environmental audits.
Beyond its EN 17255 certification, D-EMS 2020 holds TÜV QAL1 and MCERTS certifications and offers one of the broadest compliance coverages available, supporting reporting and compliance requirements for Directive (EU) 2024/1785 (IED 2.0), Directive 2010/75/EU (IED), LCPD, Directive (EU) 2015/2193 (MCPD), EN 14181, EN 17255, and US EPA 40 CFR Parts 60, 63 and 75.
Available in 19 languages, the D-EMS 2020 provides a scalable platform for environmental compliance, greenhouse gas reporting (GHG), emissions data handling, digital environmental and ambient air data management.
Whether for regulatory reporting, continuous emissions monitoring, greenhouse gas assessments, or process data management, DURAG EN 17255 certified DAHS provides operators with confidence in the accuracy, transparency, traceability, and integrity of their environmental data, helping simplify compliance and strengthen audit readiness.
