Ultrasonic Flue Gas Flow Monitor

The D-FL 220 is an ultrasonic flue gas flow measuring system designed for continuous, contactless measurement of gas velocity, volume flow and temperature in industrial stacks and ducts. Using the proven ultrasonic transit time difference method, it delivers reliable flow measurement in both dry and humid flue gases, even under demanding process conditions.


Technology: Ultrasonic transit time difference method

  • Certified and approved CEMS flowmeter for regulatory emission monitoring
    The D‑FL 220 continuously measures flue gas velocity, volume flow and temperature, providing the key process data required for regulatory emissions monitoring. Combined with gas and particulate monitors, it enables accurate mass emissions calculations and environmental reporting.
  • Representative volume flow measurement across the full stack diameter
    Unlike point measurement technologies, the D‑FL 220 uses ultrasonic transit-time technology to measure across the entire stack or duct diameter. This provides a representative flow profile and improves the accuracy of volume flow determination and emissions calculations
  • Double-sided installation for highly representative fluegas flow measurement
    The ultrasonic transducers are mounted on opposite sides of the stack or duct, creating a measurement path across the complete gas stream. This configuration enables accurate and reliable flow measurement, even in large ducts and stacks.
  • Contactless ultrasonic technology with low maintenance requirements
    The ultrasonic transducers are installed outside the flue gas stream and are not exposed to dust, moisture or corrosive gases. This contactless design minimizes wear, reduces maintenance requirements and ensures long-term measurement stability.
  • Reliable operation in aggressive and condensing flue gases
    Designed for dry, humid, condensing and aggressive flue gas conditions, the D‑FL 220 delivers dependable performance where contamination, abrasion or corrosion can challenge conventional flow measurement technologies.

    Automatic diagnostic and verification functions continuously monitor measurement performance and system integrity. This improves plant availability and helps maintain reliable operation over the long term.

COMPLIANCE & CERTIFICATIONS
  • QAL1 certified (TÜV and MCERTS) according to EN 14181, enabling QAL2 and QAL3 quality assurance procedures.
  • Tested in accordance with EN 15267-1, EN 15267-2 and EN 15267-3 for continuous measurement of flue gas velocity and volume flow.
  • Compliant with EN ISO 16911-2 for the automated determination of waste gas velocity and volume flow rate in ducts and stacks.
  • Approved for installations covered by the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED 2010/75/EU) and other European regulations requiring Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
  • Compliant with US EPA 40 CFR Part 60 requirements for certified flue gas flow monitoring and emissions reporting.

Pollutant concentration measurements alone do not provide a complete picture of environmental impact. To determine the total quantity of pollutants released into the atmosphere, emission concentrations must be combined with accurate flue gas volume flow measurements. The D-FL 220 provides the reliable flow data required to calculate mass emissions, support regulatory compliance, and ensure transparent environmental reporting.
