Vienna Summer School – Basic Aerosol Science
Supporting the next generation of aerosol scientists
DURAG GROUP will be participating in the Basic Aerosol Science Summer School hosted by the University of Vienna – a major international gathering focused on educating and training the next generation of aerosol experts.
- Date: July 8-14, 2026
- Location: University of Vienna

From fundamentals to real-world measurement
The Summer School is designed primarily for students and early-career researchers entering the field of aerosol science, offering a solid foundation in aerosol physics, chemistry, and environmental applications.
At DURAG GROUP, we believe that advancing aerosol science starts with sharing knowledge. By contributing to this program, we actively support the development of young scientists – helping bridge the gap between fundamental understanding and practical measurement techniques.
Advancing aerosol science through expertise
With over 40 years of experience, GRIMM AEROSOL TECHNIK (member of DURAG GROUP) develops high-precision instruments to measure particle size, number, and distribution – from nanoparticles to coarse particles.
Our technologies support researchers worldwide in generating reliable, reproducible data – from laboratory studies to field campaigns.

Sharing knowledge at the Summer School
As part of the Summer School, Dr. Gerhard Steiner (senior scientist at DURAG GROUP – GRIMM AEROSOL TECHNIK) will give two lectures:
- Electrical Properties of Aerosols – Thursday, 11:00–12:30
- Electrical Aerosol Measurement – Friday, 11:00–12:30
These courses provide a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of aerosol measurement technology based on the electrical properties of aerosols and explain their potential applications in the characterization of airborne particles.
Learning, exchange, and community
While the focus is on education, the event also brings together senior researchers, industry experts, and young scientists, creating a unique space for exchange across experience levels.
A highlight of the week: the traditional Viennese “Heuriger” get-together – where science meets networking in a relaxed atmosphere.
We look forward to exchanging ideas with researchers and experts on how advanced aerosol measurement technologies enable better science, better data, and better decisions.
